Lake Sandoval in Peru is listed as one of the most beautiful and beautiful lakes in the Peruvian Amazon. It is a masterpiece of lake geography.

It originates in one of the meanders of the Madre de Dios River, on its right bank. It is three kilometers (1.86 mi) long, 1 kilometer (0.62 mi) wide, and has a depth ranging from 0.5 to three meters (1.64 to 9.84 ft). It is shaped like a half moon. The average water temperature is 26oC (78.8oC).
Sandoval is surrounded by large aguajales, a swampy ecosystem where the aguaje palm tree (Mauritia flexuosa) grows, whose branches fall into the lake itself. Mahogany, hungurahui, lupuna, and platanillo trees can be seen.
Near Puerto-Maldonado, this small island in the middle of the Madre de Dios River has been for some years the refuge of monkeys that have been recovered by police services for the protection of wildlife in order to save them from animal trafficking. and reintegrate them into the natural environment. This island can be a visiting point to easily appreciate the monkeys in a natural environment.

On arrival of your flight or bus to Puerto Maldonado, our guides or staff will meet you at the airport or bus station and transfer you to our office to make a registration.

By the afternoon we have time to do roustic fishing in Madre de Dios river, where with some luck we’ll have chance to catch some species like pictus cat fish, small mouth,armored cat fish and red eye piranha. Back to the lodge, dinner an rest.
Parrots and parakeets need to eat rich clay that provides them with the salts and minerals necessary to metabolize and neutralize the toxins and acids of the flowers, fruits, and seeds upon which they feed.
