The Tambopata National Reserve is an impressive and biodiverse protected area located in the Amazon rainforest of southeastern Peru. Here are some of the highlights of the Tambopata National Reserve:

Tamboáta is home to an incredible variety of plant and animal species, including more than 600 species of birds, 1,200 species of butterflies, 169 species of mammals, and 103 species of amphibians.

Tambopata is famous for its clay licks, where large numbers of macaws and parrots gather to feed on mineral-rich clay.

The reserve encompasses vast expanses of pristine Amazon rainforest, offering visitors the opportunity to explore and experience the wonders of this unique ecosystem.

In Tambopata we can find many rivers. These canals provide a means of transportation within the reserve and also offer opportunities for activities such as river cruises, kayaking, and fishing.

Wildlife in Tambopata is Abundant, we can find species such as jaguars, giant river otters, capybaras, tapirs, giant anteaters and several species of monkeys.

The Tambopata National Reserve promotes sustainable tourism practices, with the aim of minimizing the impact on the environment and supporting local communities.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Eco Tambopata Natural Reserve

On arrival of your flight or bus to Puerto Maldonado, our guides or staff will meet you at the airport or bus station and transfer you to our office to make a registration.

Your excess luggage will be stored safely in our office in Puerto Maldonado and then we will continue to the Capitania port. We take our motor boat along the Madre de Dios River for approximately – 40 minutes to Amazon Garden Lodge. A cool welcome drink awaits you.

The start of the adventure circuit is reached a tower and stairway that ascends to the treetops where a  platform that marks the start of the zip-line almost 200mts long

The breathtaking views are only matched by the excitement of overcoming our fears and the adrenaline that courses through us as we leap off the platform supported by the high security harnesses that connect us to the zip- line cable   to a platform 27mts high.

The 75mts  long of the log walkway, hanging 27m above the floor, leads off this platform, a risky balancing act, and takes us to the platform at the start of the second zip line, a 160m fly back to the tower and stairwell that descends to the forest floor. And then Return to the Amazon Garden Lodge

After a well-deserved lunch, we take the kayaks to the river, well protected  with  high  quality  life  jackets,  and  accompanied  by  a motor boat that guarantees extra security; this level one activity is relaxing and accessible for all. Getting Monkey Island you will be

able appreciate a great diversity of monkeys such as the: capuchin, tamarines y squirrel monkeys we will put on a show of swinging through the treetops charging down the trunks of the large trees that form their home in order to accept food from your hand .

Return to Amazon Garden Lodge .Nocturnal activities are available this night we have  the caiman spotting.

DAY 2

Sandoval Lake

After a great breakfast, and distributed to each traveler  lunch and snacks we’ll take the boat  to get to the control   of Tambopata National Reserve Zone, after  1 and half hour walking trhough the rainforest we are approaching  to the famous Sandoval Lake.

DIts way by immense ancient trees and entangled vines; we will be able to see multihued flower and fauna including: Giant Otters, birds, coloured butterflies, turtles, and variety of fish.

We will spend few hours in canoe on this one of the most beautiful lakes in region. Return to Amazon Garden Lodge, dinner and rest.

DAY 3

Native Family and Rustic Fishing.

we take to the majestic Madre de Dios River and set course downstream for an hour for the Native Community of Ese´Ejas, the largest Ese Eja community numbering about 200 families, of which we will be visiting two.

The Project “Rescuing Cultural Values“, situated on Gamitana Island, is working with two families who will show us the culture of their ancestors, their language and customs, clothing and dances.

In our modern, civilized world we have all but forgotten the existence of ancestral cultures and traditions. An ancient indigenous tradition

like  the  Ese´Eja  reveals  to  us  the  customs  and  way  of  life  of indigenous peoples. They gift us with the opportunity to have a direct contact with a people of ancient warriors and hunters and to share their ancestral ways.and at 1.pm  lunch.

By the afternoon we have time to do  roustic fishing in Madre de Dios river,  where  with  some  luck  we’ll  have    chance  to  catch  some species  like pictus cat fish, small mouth,armored cat fish and red eye piranha. Back to the lodge, dinner an rest.

DAY 4

Parrots and Parakeet’s Clay Lick (Cachuela)– Puerto Maldonado

Parrots and parakeets need to eat rich clay that provides them with the salts and minerals necessary to metabolize and neutralize the toxins and acids of the flowers, fruits, and seeds upon which they feed.

Early each day, therefore, they congregate at the salt licks, clay walls along the rivers and streams in the Madre de Dios region of the Amazon rainforest.

At about  7:00am we back to the lodge , have breakfast and return to Puerto Maldonado and Drop you off at the Airport or Bus Terminal.

No, piloting drones is not permitted in our ecolodges because the wildlife and the forest is dense. Furthermore, we must respect the flora and fauna that may be affected by the drone and may also destroy your drone.

What is the recommended order to take your guests to the Lodge?

We are safe for you to travel with your children, because the experience of traveling in Peru is one of the most rewarding things, but we do not recommend traveling with children under 3 years old; children between 3 and 7 years old are most recommended, but they do not have any activities that take place in the early morning or end very late. But if you’re a child less than 8 years old, you might enjoy more activities; Please note that, if your children are unable to do so, the guides do not hold you responsible for the charge.

For other reasons, it is recommended to take a bottle of first aids that is suitable for use.

What vacations are required to visit Tambopata?

What happens in the case of a medical emergency?

All of our activities in the Peruvian region we have first aid kit to deal with the majority of cases that may arise.

All our new guides are certified, which means that they are prepared to deal with foreseeable emergencies (break bones or bites of snakes) but not complete emergencies (like an apprehension).

For snake bites, Until now unknown in Tambopata, we have extractors and an antidote in each lodge. In the event of evacuation, we must travel to the Puerto Maldonado. How is the climate in Tambopata?

In Tambopata, the daytime temperature varies between 78°F and 93°F (24°C and 31°C), but the average nighttime temperature is between 66°F and 78°F (20°C and 24°C).

From May to September, the frequent cold weather from Argentina can warm up to the south-west of the Amazon, raising daytime temperatures to 50°F (9°C) and nighttime temperatures to 43°F (5°C). In this case, it is recommended that the clothes are suitable for the cold and the cold weather for this time.

The November holidays in April are considered as the weather of the rain, with the rain that may persist for hours or days. During this period, 80% of the annual average precipitation of 3000 mm is maintained. Prepare for adverse climatic conditions and intense rain.

What type of soap and shampoo is recommended in Tambopata?

What recommendations are necessary to save the volume of photos?

It is advisable to protect your photography equipment with a water-protected package. For constant humidity in the tropical forest, we recommend storing any losses in plastic bags and taking precautions when using them.

How is the electrician in the hotel?

The electrical supply varies depending on the location in the Ecolodges. It provides energy of 220 volts in specific times, and in certain areas it uses solar energy of 12 volts.

What are the necessary tips for traveling on the road?

Avoid traveling alone in the forest. It is recommended to cover it completely and use it accordingly. Please be careful to avoid snakes and hormones.

Do you want to have extra food for the tour?

We recommend taking a small amount of dinner in case you need an extra baby at the Lodge like refreshments, beer, babies and/or tips for the staff will be at your service.

Are you safe in the Tambopata rivers?

We do not recommend enter to the rivers due to the presence of caimans and other aquatic animals. It is best enjoyed by the rivers in a box or in the shore.

Yes, we have options for night tours to observe the night life. These excursions are guided tours and offer opportunities for worm species such as luminous insects, frogs, caimans and other animals.
